Ideal new digs for Harry Potter

A bachelor cupboard with all modern conveniences has been advertised for rent in London. Although no restrictions have been placed on prospective tenants, muggles included, it is viewed as prime space for a bachelor wizard-in-training, and the name Harry Potter springs instantly to mind.

Potter, in case anyone - anyone at all - needs reminding, is a student at the prestigious Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, who was deposited at birth with despicable family relatives, the Dursleys, at number four Privet Drive, who confined him in a closet below stairs and kept him from sight for most of his early years.

That closet was his home even when Hogwarts closed for summer holidays.

Now reaching an age when most young wizards normally leave home, the young Potter must be salivating at the prospect of securing a bachelor pad in the prestigious neighborhood of Notting Hill, one of London's toniest addresses.

With spacious living space of 7ft 6in by 3ft 4in, containing a kitchenette, shower room and wardrobe, it includes built-in bed on a raised platform which is reached using a ladder.

And here comes the clincher. Rent is advertised as just £200 a week!

The estate agent advertising the rental has described the flat as "tiny but trendy". He estimated its worth at £150,000, and said a larger one-bedroom flat in the same block sold for nearly £450,000 last year.

With one wave of his wand the budding wizard should have no trouble converting his new digs into a palace fit for a prince-British, of course.
