Afghanistan
A bomb fell today
in far off Afghanistan.
It landed on Canadians
and killed them straight away.
They were sent to fight a foe
and trained to beat the enemy.
Instead they met with woe
and were blasted to eternity.
Had it been in battle
they would have stood a chance.
Instead they met deaths rattle
by mistake and happenstance.
Someone somewhere blundered,
we can only reason why.
They heard an aircrafts thunder
and thenand then
It was their time to die.
Léger and Green
Smith and Dyer,
four who
died for a dream.
A dream of peace
world without terror,
shattered by
a pilots error.
"Friendly fire" in "the
fog of war"
was how an ally described it.
Where was the fog
And who was the friend
In far away Afghanistan?
