An attack of the willies
Scared? The steady rise
of Sinn Fein in the
Irish political firmament
continues to scare members
of the Twenty-Six County
establishment. Latest
to suffer an attack
of the willies was Willie
O'Day, Minister of State
in the Department of
Justice, who expressed
his opinion that the
advances made by Sinn
Fein were putting at
risk 120,000 jobs directly
dependent on United
States investment.
He asserted that American
investors including
solicitors, accountants
and financial experts
were worried.
"These people relayed
to me growing concern
at the fragmentation
of the Irish political
system, giving rise
to the emergence of
the hard Left in the
form of Marxist-terrorist
Sinn Fein."
At one time Irish children
were threatened by invocation
of the "Bogey Man".
"The Bogey Man
will get you if you're
not good!"
"The Bogey Man
is coming to get you!"
Then the children grew
up. The Bogey Man no
longer scares them.
Neither will the invocation
of "Marxist-terrorist
Sinn Fein."
Time for a new epithet.
Try "Thirty-Two
County Sinn Fein".
That is what is really
scary to Mr. O'Day and
his colleagues.
